Materials

There are a number of choices of materials that can be used for PCB EMI / RF shield Cans.
The most popular material in use is Tinplated Steel. The advantages of this material are its low cost, excellent solderablity, is RoHS complaint and has an attractive finish. High quality tin plating allows soldering to ensure a reliable electrical contact for effective shielding performance. 
Nickel Silver alloys are also frequently used for shielding applications. This is a more expensive material, but suitable for specific applications.
